CFO
Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
We have an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking leader with significant financial management experience, to join our aviation family as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for our US base located at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. We are growing rapidly through in the Latin American markets and need a strategic and innovative team player to drive our continued growth and success.
OSM AVIATION ACADEMY in the United States of America is an FAA part 141 certified flight Academy, where we currently provide flight training to 100+ students from more than 20 different countries.
In 2019, we transferred ownership to OSM Aviation, a well-recognized International Aviation group with a strong presence in Scandinavia, where we have focused on aviation education for over 40 years.
Job Summary:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the aviation academy. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in financial management, strategic planning, and a strong understanding of the aviation industry. They will be responsible for developing and implementing financial strategies to ensure the long-term financial stability and growth of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures that support the organization’s goals and objectives and hiring needs.
- Monitor financial performance, identify trends, and develop strategies to improve financial performance.
- Oversee the preparation of financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, annual operating, capital, program budgets and other financial reports as required.
- Ensure Cashflow is compatible with company operations, by overseeing the day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting and internals control activities of the organization.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including banks, investors, and other financial institutions.
- Oversee the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Develop and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage finance personal and oversee financial IT systems, ensuring compliance with all the applicable financial accounting standards board, IRS, State Attorney General and other relevant regulations.
- Lead the development and use of best-practice policies, practices and tools that ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization with strong physical management, project management, cross team communication and workflow.
- Manage the risk management function of the organization, including company liabilities and investments, claims management and manage capital structure and fundraising initiatives.
- Provide financial analysis and advice to the senior management team and board of directors to support strategic decision-making for all cash managements, investments, insurances, budgeting and financial reporting.
- Research revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations, identify areas of cost reduction and process enhancement.
- Oversee HR functions, coordinating with external service providers (payroll, benefits and general HR) and internal staff responsible for various aspects of HR.
- Monitor performances with tracking, establish corrective measures as need it, and prepare detail reports, both current and forecasting for earnings call, the management team and the rest of the company.
- Ensure compliance with Federal, State and local financial requirements by studying the existing and new legislations, enforcing compliance and taking actions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance OR recent finance aviation experience in the same area, accounting, or a related field.
- CPA or CFA designation preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in financial management, preferably in the aviation industry.
- Experience in strategic planning and financial analysis.
- Understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues and Tax planning.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience with financial reporting and analysis software.
- Able to understand, speak, write and read English and Spanish languages.
- ICAO pilot license and pilot experience.
- Experience in maintenance and repair shops, Cessna, Beechcraft, Diamond and Piper preferably.
- Experience working with IPC, POH and logbooks for Single & Multiengine aircraft.
- QuickBooks and Excel demonstrable experience.
- Sales and Customer services experience in South America aviation markets.
- Availability for travelling to the Central America, South America and North America markets.

Job Title: Certified Flight Instructor (CFI)
Job Summary:
The Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) will be responsible for providing flight training to students at the aviation academy. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in flight instruction, a strong understanding of aviation regulations, and a passion for teaching.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide flight instruction to students in accordance with FAA regulations and the academy’s policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement lesson plans and training materials for ground school and flight instruction.
- Conduct pre-flight and post-flight briefings to ensure that students understand the objectives of each lesson and their progress toward meeting their goals.
- Administer written and practical exams to assess student progress and ensure that they meet FAA requirements for certification.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, flight time, and other required documentation.
- Communicate regularly with students and their parents or sponsors to provide feedback on progress and discuss any concerns or issues.
- Maintain a high standard of safety in all flight operations, adhering to FAA regulations and best practices.
- Assist with recruiting and retention efforts, including attending aviation events and promoting the academy’s programs and services.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to stay up-to-date on aviation regulations, safety practices, and instructional techniques.
Requirements:
- FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate with Instrument rating.
- Bachelor’s degree in aviation or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a flight instructor.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students of varying backgrounds and skill levels.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
